Question: What's the difference between dressing and stuffing?
LaurelHOW: According to the official Laurelpedia definitions:
- stuffing. noun. seasoned breadcrumbs and other ingredients cooked inside the turkey on Thanksgiving. syn. unacceptable.
- dressing. noun. seasoned breadcrumbs and other ingredients cooked outside of the turkey on thanksgiving. syn. acceptable.
- When I asked Laurel why she had such strong feelings about the classic stuffing vs. dressing debate, she informed me that:
- Cooking stuffing inside the turkey is gross
- because you can get salmonella.
- To prevent salmonella, you need to cook the turkey longer,
- which dries out the turkey.
- This is very upsetting to Laurel, who, interestingly, does not eat turkey or dressing (or stuffing).
