LaurelCHAT answers

Here at LaurelCHAT we always have a real, live Laurel Impersonator ready to answer your questions.

Question: Laurelpedia, when is the appropriate time to send Christmas cards? Like, when should they arrive? One day before Christmas? Two?
LaurelHOW: You can send them as early as Easter and as late as Groundhogs Day, but in reality you want people to enjoy their Christmas cards! So that they can show off how many people love them enough to send them a card.  So, try to send them out as soon after Thanksgiving as possible. And don't forget your friends who celebrate Hannukkah and Kwanzaa, so send them appropriate holiday greetings.

Typical Laurel

Here at Laurelpedia, we know Holiday Laurel best. So here's a section we like to call "Laurel would do that."

1. Have Alex Busack's popcorn popper all ready for "homemade christmas tree decorating party."

2. Make all of her holiday travels canoodling with a wooden camel named "Minnesota."
3. Make sure that Kristen Scott Thomas is well equipped for the cold with waterproof socks.

4. Give Maggie Fischer a can of chef boyardee spaghetti and meatballs for her 24th birthday.

5.  During the construction of a gorgeous, charming gingerbread house, intone, "Is that the best tree you have in your heart?"

And there ya have it... the top five CLASSIC holiday Laurelmoves from Laurelpedia.

A Special Thanksgiving LaurelHOW

Welcome to LaurelHOW.

Question: What's the difference between dressing and stuffing?
LaurelHOW:  According to the official Laurelpedia definitions:
  • stuffing. noun. seasoned breadcrumbs and other ingredients cooked inside the turkey on Thanksgiving. syn. unacceptable.
  • dressing. noun. seasoned breadcrumbs and other ingredients cooked outside of the turkey on thanksgiving. syn. acceptable.

  • When I asked Laurel why she had such strong feelings about the classic stuffing vs. dressing debate, she informed me that:
    • Cooking stuffing inside the turkey is gross
    • because you can get salmonella.
    • To prevent salmonella, you need to cook the turkey longer,
    • which dries out the turkey.
    • This is very upsetting to Laurel, who, interestingly, does not eat turkey or dressing (or stuffing).
